Abstract : The Shanghai Municipal Archives (founded 1959) has developed a volume-level catalog (to be further analyzed to the individual document level and computerized) and improved access to its large collection of documents related to Japanese puppet governments of the Shanghai region from the city to national levels 1937-45, which are particularly valuable for research on the puppet Nanjing government (1940-45) and Japan's plans and policies for the conquest of China.
