Information data : As formany roads in Shanghai, Jessfleld road was built over an existing canal. During the Taiping Rebellion, some roads were made for transporting supplies and ammunition, and in this way Jessfield Road came into existence. Afterwards this road was was taken over by the Shanghai Municipal Council.
