Information data : The S. M. C. (Shanghai Municipal Council) Polytechnic Public School started as a missionary school. Teaching started in 1876 after two years of preparation and construction. In 1884, the school became a junior high school when it was taken over by the SMC. It received its new name in 1917. Ten years later, a new three-story building was erected at the original address.
