Information data : This picture is difficult to date as no single construction stands out as 'new'. When compared to the 1939 Commercial atlas (Shanghai shi hanghao lutu lu), the layout of buildings is definitely one of an earlier period. It was probably after 1937 as the Messageries maritimes building is visible on the French Bund. The probable date for this picture is 1937-1938.
