Information data : On the sandbags, the sign reads: "ENTRANCE BEHIND SAND BAGS". The second signe reads: "NORTH CHINA DAILY NEW. JAPANESE AGAIN BOMB NANKING".
The buildings located along the Bund placed sandbags on their doors and windows to avoid possible collateral damage from bomb blasts. Fighting was taking place for a while very close on the Huangpu River.
